Modern Eye Testing Equipment at Optical Discount Centre
At Optical Discount Centre, we have invested
in modern and sophisticated eye testing equipment.
This shows that our priority is providing our clients with up to date, quality and experienced eyecare
We do not just concentrate on selling glasses
Our Equipment Includes:
A
computerised perimeter for visual
fields testing. This is useful for screening for glaucoma and for
testing for tunnel vision and other visual field defects.
A corneal topographer for mapping the surface of the eye. This is useful for diagnosis of ocular conditions such as keratoconus, fitting rigid contact lenses, and ortho-keratology.
We have equipment for performing binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy and gonioscopy.
All eligible clients are bulk billed for eye examinations which are covered by Medicare. We do not charge extra for using our specialized equipment.
Our optometrist also bulk bills, even if you've had your eyes tested within the past two years. This ensures that all members of the community have equal access to modern equipment and quality and experienced eye care.
Please make sure you bring your current Medicare card with you to your appointment to be bulk billed.
Medicare does not cover spectacles, contact lenses and optical aids. These are covered by Private health insurance funds in their ancillary or 'extras' tables. You do not need a referral from a medical practitioner to have an eye examination by an optometrist.
For most people, an eye test every two years is recommended to ensure
the continuing health of your eyes and optimum visual
performance. Regular eye tests at least every two years will confirm the condition of your eyes, and is an important step in helping to protect your healthy sight for the future. Just like with most health conditions, early detection often minimizes long-term damage, particularly as many eye and vision conditions show no obvious symptoms. You should follow the advice of your optometrist or ophthalmologist regarding the frequency of eye examinations. |
Direct Billing to
Health Funds
If you have extras cover, we
direct bill
optical claims to your private health funds using HICAPS. If you have a
health fund card with a magnetic strip, we will most likely be able to
claim your purcahses from your health fund on the spot. Please make
sure you bring this card.
